TEST. COMPARE. SHARE.
When you purchase a Brixit Kit, you’re joining a movement to make food quality visible, to encourage farmers to adopt nutrient focused practices, and to empower consumers to make choices that reflect their values.
Our vision is simple:
to help people see, compare, and understand the real quality of the food available where they are and in real time. No more guessing and no more relying on labels.
By testing and comparing foods side by-side- from grocery stores, farmers markets, and local farms- you will discover where the most truly nourishing food is in your community.
You already know some produce just tastes different. Sweeter. More alive. Like it actually came from the ground and not a warehouse.
The BRIXit Kit gives you the tool to prove it.
Using a simple handheld refractometer, you can measure the BRIX score of fruit or vegetable juice — a number that reflects the sugar and mineral density in your food. Higher BRIX generally means more flavor, more nutrition, and healthier soil. Lower BRIX means the opposite.
It takes about 60 seconds. No lab required.
What's inside:
Handheld BRIX refractometer
BRIX press coin for easy juice extraction
BRIX reference chart
Step-by-step instructions
How it works:
Pick your produce. Squeeze a drop of juice onto the refractometer's glass plate. Look through the eyepiece. The number where blue meets white is your BRIX score. Log it. Compare it. Share it.
Why it matters beyond your kitchen:
Every score you log through the BRIXit app becomes part of a growing dataset — built by people like you, for people like you. Over time, those readings reveal which farms, stores, and regions are consistently producing nutrient-dense food. Your shopping trip becomes a data point that helps your whole community eat better.
Who it's for:
The person who reads the label and asks where it was grown. The parent who drives across town for the good eggs. The cook who knows the difference and wants to stop guessing.
How to take a Brix Reading
Within each BRIXit Kit, you will fill find:

Do you have your produce?
GREAT! Let’s take 3 READINGS
Place your BRIXit Coin
into the BRIXit Press
Cut a piece of the
edible part of the food
Place it on top of the
coin in the BRIXit Press
Flip the lid of the BRIX
Refractometer open
Squeeze a drop of juice from the produce onto the refractometer slide (blue glass)
Close the lid, hold the refractometer up to a light, and look into the eye piece
Adjust the focus if needed, & look for the separation line between the white and blue- that’s your BRIX reading!
Refer to the BRIX chart to see where this sample sits in the continuum of relative food quality
By engaging in the Brixit Challenge, you are helping create a future where the quality of food is no longer hidden, where nutrient-dense food is recognized, valued, and accessible to all.
