Our vision is simple: to help people see, compare, and understand the real quality of the food available where they are and in real time. No more guessing and no more relying on labels. By testing and comparing foods side-by-side- from grocery stores, farmers markets, and local farms- you will begin the journey of discovering where the most truly nourishing food is in your community.

Every score submitted helps another family eat better.
Good food knowledge shouldn’t be locked away.

BRIXit is about curiosity, shared learning, and empowerment.Families, friends, classrooms, and communities can participate together- turning food quality into something tangible, engaging, and fun. Every test, every comparison, and every conversation builds transparency, strengthens food systems, and supports farmers who are growing food with care and intention. By engaging in the BRIXIT Challenge, you are helping create a future where the quality of food is no longer hidden- where nutrient-dense food is recognized, valued, and accessible to all.

The BRIX score measures dissolved solids in fresh produce -primarily sugars - along with small amounts of minerals, amino acids, and other compounds. Higher scores often indicate a plant that was photosynthesizing well and functioning efficiently, conditions commonly associated with better flavour and overall food quality.

Supermarket carrots often score 4–6. A carrot from a well-managed farm can score 18. Same vegetable. Very different quality. Now you can know before you buy.
