BFA Newsletter - 4/14/23

At the Bionutrient Food Association, celebrating the Earth is an everyday endeavor. At the very core of our work to build a nutrient dense food supply is a love for our home planet and all of its inhabitants. Understanding the importance of nourishing the soil, which nourishes plant life, which then becomes the food that nourishes our bodies, is the essence of our research. The Earth and its abundance are a miracle. We are honored to facilitate education and empowerment among an ever-growing community of people who want to be better stewards of the land and ensure that we are doing all we can to care for the beautiful ecosystems that give us life.

Did you know that two seemingly identical leaves of spinach can contain dramatically different levels of nutrition? In some cases, one of those leaves can have up to 15x the iron of another or 200x the polyphenols from the other. This is driven by many factors including growing practices, crop variety, environmental conditions, and more.

The Bionutrient Food Association is bringing together a workshop with Cathryn Couch, Lindsay Rebhan, and Dan Kittredge to unpack the influence of concentric social ecologies on the food system and share some insights on how food affects our health and the growing momentum supporting food as medicine strategies.

We’ll taste the differences in food, explore systems change, and share insights from decades of inquiry around the health of our food.
